Harsh, almost sculptural work with light and neon reflections transforms living anatomy into an engineered structure. I used the digital impasto technique to give the surface the density of metal. This work is about the triumph of discipline over biology.
The word 'temper' in English holds several simultaneous meanings: character, the hardening of metal, and self-control. I chose it precisely for this multiplicity — the work is about all three at once. It is the image of energy forced into the rigid constraints of form for the sake of ultimate efficiency.
